Someone recently said, ‘I don’t ever feel worthy’. I said to her, that’s right. You will NEVER ‘Feel’ worthy. Because worthiness is not meant to be ‘felt’. It is not a feeling. So, what is it then? Some people associate their sense of worthiness to an event or occurrence – they say ‘When I lose 10lbs, I will feel good. When I earn an extra £1,000, I will feel worthy.
Worthiness is a stance, a commitment, it’s a belief and ultimately a knowing that You. Are. WORTHY. It is deciding to discount things that don’t matter for things that do. Its deciding in your mind, regardless of the experiences and evidences around you that you, honey, are WORTHY. Yes, Worthy of Love, respect, faith, hope and a great life. I promise you, you won’t feel it – or maybe a little sometimes, depending on the weather and the colour of your dress. But that doesn’t last because the sun goes down and the dress changes.
Worthiness requires boldness. To accept compliments, to say, yes and no, to be you. It requires permission – not from anyone but from you. Your permission to live, love and let go. It requires faith – not in yourself but in God, because we are reflections of Him. It requires choices, daily. The choice to ignore the things that don’t matter and to accept the things that do matter.
Ultimately it requires a renewing of your mind for You cannot have a thing until you believe you deserve it – for as a (wo)man thinks in her heart, so she is.
I think you are worthy, do you?
