God’s Errand Girl

Obeying God’s call. One of the things that I struggle with is obeying God when He calls or sends me. Its not because I didn’t hear clearly, but it’s the small voices that say ‘you are not ready, you rare not qualified – these voices want to make sure we don’t obey Gods call in our lives.

The great news is that we have a multitude of examples form the bible to help us deal with this and one of the one that springs to mind is Sarah, the mother of Jesus. In Luke 1 when the angel appeared to Mary to informed her of God’s plan to use her to birth His son Jesus, she had lots of questions one which was very valid. She asked, “How will this be, seeing that I am a virgin”. the Holy Spirit answered her “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you. For this reason, the baby will be holy and will be called the Son of God. He then went on to tell her that Elizabeth was also pregnant for a child. I believe that Mary had many other questions but rather than ask, she trusted and intelligently carried out Gods plan.

Mary said, “I am the servant of the Lord. Let this happen to me as you say!” Then the angel went away.
